I don't own a cabin. It is unlikely, barring a number of random circumstances, that I ever will. But.
The northern night sky is the second greatest thing in life, and I can stand this view forever.
Of course, the greatest thing in life is the incredible chick next to me. Number 3? Sound of wolves in the night. The top ten is rounded out by a random mix of lefse, sasquatch, Legos (the random ones you can make your own stuff with), Jameson's, fishing, Barenaked Ladies (either definition), and a good wood fire.

Zombies comin'...
ReplyDeleteDon't take it personal-like, but Oct. 25th me and a buddy are, thanks to teh wives, going on a zombie hunt. I'm just concerned about the cost of taxidermy.
Deletewe added a fire pit to our deck. However, since it's in a smallish backyard, wood fires make the whole house smell like a campfire....so we stick to duraflame logs. It's an urban thing, I guess, and I am not sure we're even allowed a fire pit...
ReplyDeleteOur city rules require permits for every fire with times and such, but basically I think it's just eyewash and liability stuff - I've never been asked to produce one.
DeleteBe glad you can force yourself off the couch to get to the woods, even if you're renting.
ReplyDeletenot everyone lives as far from nature as you do...
DeleteDude, I went hiking with my wife for the first time in 3 years. Imma seriously gonna hug the shit out of her knee surgeon.
DeleteThillered!
hmpf. I have a fucknugget here; had the DVR set to record El Doctoro, and it was also recording the interim broadcasts. So it eventually bumped "Kill The Moon" into the ether, and I dunno when it will show up again.
ReplyDeleteHmpf, I say...
Jayzuz, if I didn't have the wife to do all the DVR stuff I'd be screwed, I only just learned that a mouse pointer actually does something.
DeleteI am presently in the midst of selling my small abode in town with convenient walking and biking access to everything, and pizza delivery. In exchange I'm moving about 10 minutes further away up into the hills, onto a couple of acres of forest, with few neighbors, a great view, and hiking, running, and mountain biking trails adjacent to the new place.
ReplyDeleteI'm just a teensy bit excited.
But I'll miss getting pizza delivered. A little.
May I have your permission to be criminally jealous?
DeleteActually, I really like where I live, inner-ring suburb, but I do loves me some woods and hills.
I keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.
DeleteAlso, too: there's lots of defensible space, just in case some zombie shows up.
