Vikings flack Joe Soucheray reported that the NFL was considering replaying the game when Ponder was healthy. Local intellectual Bob Sansavere reported that "I knew it were coming and stopped watching Vikings games in July, these guys will never amount to anything."
paleo, of the famed blog Checking Out Your Shorts, said "Vikings fans are, by and large, the worst fair weather fans in the history of any sport, including that one in Mexico that was like basketball except with beheadings. And Twin Cities media is merciless on their sports teams - if the Vikings win one, it's 'oh, here we go, Superbowl!', if they lose one, it's 'Vikings? What are these Vikings you speak of?' I can't imagine anyone wanting to play here, and actually, I feel terrible for Adrien Peterson, who seems like a genuinely good guy and is clearly one of the finest athletes of any generation, and is being set up for a Barry Sanders situation, amazing player on a semi-pro team. He should come to the better side of the river."
Special Note For These Purveyors Of Fine Whine: Shut up. Injuries happen - as a Packer fan, believe me, injuries happen. And it's Christian Ponder - every backup QB in the league is better than Ponder, much less Joe Webb. You lost. Hush, suck it up, try again.
We get the 49ers next weekend, I gotta work, so will be cobbling together some manner to watch the game - frustration, pppbbffllltttt! I'll say more about that later, we definitely played at a high level, finally almost healthy (didn't really stay there, dammit), but for now, I'm watching the Seattle Seahawks at the Washington Racistnames, and its a helluva game. I do have a rooting interest - I want another scrum with the Seahawks, we owe them.
Tony Dungy was SO annoying the way he talked like Joe Webb was going to give them additional weapons because he could run.
ReplyDeleteSure, "Coach" so why isn't he the starting QB again? And second string to PONDER? Although frankly, how much QB does it take to give the ball to Petersen 30 times?
I still it was just fine to lose to the Vikes up nort', as it kept the Bears downwind, and did anyone doubt the Vikings would lose in Lambeau? An extra game to stay sharp, and we'll have to see how the injuries shake out. But Are we really supposed to fear Kaepernick? That win against the Packers was what, 18 weeks ago?
Unless I misunderstand, A seahawks matchup would b in Lambeau, would it not?
ReplyDeleteTony Dungy was SO annoying the way he talked like Joe Webb was going to give them additional weapons because he could run.
ReplyDeleteFixied it for ya.
how much QB does it take to give the ball to Petersen 30 times?
And given that we had not really stopped the guy before, why was that not the actual game plan - they went pass happy before they really had to...
I know it is a cliche, but no, we ain't nearly the team we were 4 months ago.
We'd see the Seahawks at home , and I want it, but this game now is really up in the air, Sea-Was.
TAG FAIL- read "he talked like Joe Webb was going to give them additional weapons because he could run." as if it were struck through. DAMMIT.
DeletePlus Seattle would have to beat ATL also.
ReplyDeleteBlooger does not support strikethrough in comments. Fascists.
we ain't nearly the team we were 4 months ago.
Neither are the 49ers. But at least we have our primary offense intact.
And given that we had not really stopped the guy before, why was that not the actual game plan - they went pass happy before they really had to...
ReplyDeleteThey actually had AP bottled up pretty well. He was kept to short gains in the middle, and the edges were better protected. Good as he is, they need to throw once in a while to keep the containment loose.
Unfortunately, the person they had throwing was Joe Webb.
Someone pointed out that against the Packers, the number one rusher all season was Petersen, with 2 - 200+ games; the next closest one was some guy with 112 yards. At the same time, nobody on the Packer team is racking up huge catching or running numbers because it's so spread around.
So acknowledging that AP is a gifted player, is he also putting up amazing numbers because he gets the ball every damn time?
They were obviously counting on him being able to break a big run or couple. And props to the Packers, they figured out how to keep him from doing so. After three games.
OBVs, I come here to talk Packer Porn....
ReplyDeletewe ain't nearly the team we were 4 months ago.

I misspoke - I think we are much better - our offense has achieved a sort of balance, at least enough to keep everyone honest, our secondary has become quite peachy.
What I look at with Petersen is ave. yards per carry, and then I'd love to see his ave. per carry after 10, then 20, then 30 carries - is he wearing the defenses down?
2 pt conversion by the seahawks - nice play. I want the bastards, fail mary my ass.
Blogger tags are theft.
I misspoke - I think we are much better -
DeleteI was wondering, because that's the way I see it too. After futzing through the season, a run offense finally cropped up.
Petersen's Average per carry was something like 4.8 on Sunday, based on what teh JS reported. They didn't break it down in sections like that. But the defense didn't SEEM to be worn down as the game went on.
I would be more interested in that stat for last week,we were not stopping them (nor they stopping us)at the end - last possession was going to win.
DeleteIts nice to play an 8 man line...
Also, about above - the way Seattle looks now, ATL better be taking notes.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Washington destroyed RG3 by leaving him in so he's hurt even worse now. Hope it's not going to damage his career.
ReplyDeleteI saw the play - the human knee ain't supposed to go in that direction, my happy parts retreated far with my torso, and he had gone down weird the previous play as well. Hurt to watch.
DeleteNow, let's hope Matthews and Woodson have Kaepernick's number.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the other danger vectors from those west Coast bastards?
Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree, Aldon Smith.
DeleteKaeaepperrniche is serviceable, better than Alex Smith, anyhow, but Gore is a punisher, Crabtree is a helluva hands/possession receiver. We can't keep anyone out of Rodgers' face - we have to pass protect, this is ridiculous. Robert Griffin has earned his scars from a wildcat offense and taking chances. Aaron Rodgers has his from hanging in the damn pocket, and it is severely annoying.
yeah, what happened to Rodgers' ability to scramble? He moved like Lynn Dickey a couple of times.
ReplyDeleteChrist, he's gotten knocked around like a weeble wobble all year. If we can't learn to pass protect, or replace the whole OL, he'll be Dickey in 2 years. Or Roman Gabriel. Jim McMahon?
Deletehe'll never be as annoying as McMahon.
DeleteK, that was a stretch.
Deletetimey wimey wibbley wobbley Rodgers Dodgery....
