Doctor Who, The Name Of The Doctor - Season Finale. Spoilerrific!

Ok, the simple things:

  • Strax is stinkin' brilliant.
  • Vastra and Jenny are a wonderful couple.
  • Cutting One through Nine in to Clara's story? Nice! (I didn't see Ten - must rewatch).
  • River's line about 'he left me in the universe's biggest library, didn't even say goodbye'? That was so harsh, and so very right, actually, the whole River storyline in here.
  • "Run, you clever boy, and remember!" - Love that phrase.
Tougher things:
  • I've been a bit on the fence about Clara, but this a good show for her. And with her final line before entering the Doctor's timestream, that would have been a helluva memorable way for a Companion to leave.
  • SO, to get this straight then, the TARDIS has known Clara since forever, with her saving the Doctor many times - why does the TARDIS dislike her so strongly?
  • The less seen of the kids, the better - children and SF are good for each other, look at me!, but children in SF need horrible transporter accidents.
Biggest and most intriguing spoiler:
  • "and John Hurt as The Doctor" (Returning Nov. 23rd? Gah!)
I'll rewatch, tomorrow likely, I'm satisfied and looking forward to fall, less on the fence about Clara.

Re: John Hurt

Mr. Zombie Rotten McDonald tried to tempt me with the last spoiler knowing I had not yet seen, and I admit he polluted my mind a bit today, but the best I could come up with was Capt. John Hart from Torchwood, played by James Marsters, and that was re-e-a-a-l-l unlikely; or John Simm returning as The Master, somewhat more possible.

John Barkin' Hurt? Wow.

Thoughts?

  1. I like John Hurt, so I don't mind him showing up. And the foreshadowing is that something very heavy is coming on his end, so he's go the right level of gravitas and universe-weariness. Yeah, Nov 23 seems way too far off, but there will be some new Arrested Development in the near future....

I think the Tardis doesn't like Clara because jealous. I mean, TARDIS/Idris has saved him so many times, how often does she get the credit? Clara gets all the smooches and hugs. Except for the one episode, TARDIS is treated mostly as a thing.

I am SO going to miss River Song. I loved her, much more than Amy and Rory, even though there would be no River without Amy and Rory...dang that timey wimey wibbly wobbly.

The whisper-guys are nearly as scary as the Angels. GAH!

I did not place Richard E. Grant until this episode. May have been the hat; or maybe the peeling off of his face...

LOL at your twisties on the spoiler hint I left. I may have let out a little bit of a "kewl!' when he turned around at the end.

Due to decency standards, the "Beeb" can't show the Doctor getting it on with the TARDIS. That's for the slashfic writers!

Interesting. I do remember, was it Amy?, when the TARDIS finished cooking, and the Doctor ran up to the console cooing and saying (para) "oh, you beautiful girl!", she said "Do you two need a room?".

I am SO going to miss River Song.
      She'd break you. Down.
This looked to be her final sendoff, yeah, and she was great!

      And the Silence.

I tried to watch 'Withnail and I', couldn't stick with it, I'll try again, but jayzus was he sickly looking - looked rather refined as the Intelligence.

LOL yerself - I spent brain power on that. Need a drink - send scotch.

Rule 34. Somewhere in the UK Matt Smith just threw up in his mouth a little bit.

They could just do it after the watershed - Torchwood was never afraid to show Capt. Jack hitting on men, chickens, leaf blowers.

    4. Captain Jack was such a cheerfully randy bugger. It seemed healthy.

  3. Considering that scene in Alien, perhaps you should consider using John BARFIN' Hurt.
